Default kn fipk

Hey guys,
I did a search and found a lot of mixed results. On a 01-04 c5 can you install a kn fipk without cutting the radiator shroud. Please speak from experience only. Thanks guys, in the mean time I'll keep searching. Sorry if this question has already been answered.

The instructions recommend that the shroud be cut right where the filter sits. I just wasn't sure if that was strictly for airflow or if the cutting was required for fitment reasons. I don't want to chop up my shroud if I do not have to.

Why are you not asking the manufacturer?

K&n just recommended following the install instructions. I was able to get it to fit without cutting shroud.

Not sure if it is just for fitment sake. Cutting the shroud would theoretically allow cooler air to flow in from outside the engine compartment.

i have this on my car from the previous owner. the cutting is from the top. so, the air would have to travel upward, then take a 180* turn to go back downward to the filter.
