Looking to upgrade my intake manifold and add a cold air intake into my base model 2001 corvette. I was wondering if anyone could let me know some info about them and maybe give me ideas on what they feel are the best options. I want the most power I can get out of these as well. All advice appreciated!

With an 01 you should have the equivalent of the Z06 manifold.
The FAST manifolds are the next level up, but pricey.
What other mods do you have and what is your performance goal?
Money may be better spent elsewhere.
Your not going to see much of a gain by going to a FAST from a LS6 manifold. Especially with a stock exhaust and cam.
Put the money toward a full exhaust setup, intake (CAI), and tune. Just trying to get you the most for your $$$. A step further would be doing a cam. You shouldn't have any issue cracking 400 with those changes.

keep your intake manifold... if you plan to stay n/a then the fast is a good manifold when you have a cam and heads, on a stock motor it isn't worth it
I have Kooks LT's and mid pipe w/o cats with a CORSA touring cat back. I like the corsas because they are they only setup that doesn't drone at 1500 rpms. A lot of guys like LG or ARH's. I see no issues with any of them.

any of the big 3 header companies should suit you fine, lg, arh, or kooks... exhaust is subjective, it is more of a sound preference as there isn't a whole lot of difference as far as power goes... personally I run lg superpros with no cats and corsa xtremes

less restriction, louder, stronger fuel smells coming from the exhaust... some people like to keep cats to reduce the fuel smell but it doesn't bother me... if you do this you will also have to remove the rear o2 sensors and have the codes removed by a tuner to keep the check engine light off and so you can pass inspection if you live in an emissions area
I been reading that it is illegal to have them.. Have you ever had any problems from police etc.. from not having them? Also does any1 have some links so I can actually see what exhaust you are talking about.. Sure I can look it up myself but if you directly show me I can have a better idea. :/
Police aren't going to get under your car to check for Cats (I doubt if the majority would know what they are looking for anyway). It comes down to what your state/county/city required for inspection. Where I live as long as the computer says pass I get a sticker. CORSA is the name of the company. I had Xtremes and they droned too much for me. So I went to the Touring model. It sounds the same, but not as loud and no drone.
I don't mind giving advice, but google is pretty easy to use.
I agree with neutron 82, the manifold change is largely a trade off. GM decided to put the power down low, the aftermarket piece moved it to a more racer centric area towards the top of the power band . It's not like the old hot rod days with this design, where pretty much anything stock was marginal and easily improved with aftermarket chrome goodies.
I don't agree with removing smog equipment on street cars.
It's not that I am a perfect citizen, but breaking a few traffic laws once in a while is a quite different deal than building a machine that breaks the law every time I start it up. I don't think my needs are so special that I should disregard the wishes of my community in this area. I would have tough time expecting my kid, or other citizens, to do right by the law with that approach. I am still trying to live by the old police are your friends approach, but times are changing. Still, driving dirty is not my deal.
Additionally my area is a smog trap, a child born today in the San Fernando Valley will have permanent lung damage by age eight. I don't need to aggravate that mess just to drive around. Plus my community spends a lot of money on air quality , so I would be wasting my tax dollars for a couple of personal horse power or ego problems, your call.
Speed costs money, everyone knows that. You can go as fast as you might want in legal cars, but it costs more, as is easily seen with factory builds. The tech is understood. So it becomes an issue of understanding and applying dollars to legal street power or cheating . Again, stressing I am not a prize winning citizen, but I do like to try once in a while.
Plus, my streets are so crowded that getting into a situation where I could utilize more power than stock smog controls provide would call for a long drive out of town. I have seen some of what is left of the clean parts of this world and want to help preserve what can be saved. I have never been a me first, screw you guy. I like my friends, and all my friends have lungs.
I could go on, but you get the idea.
