Hey guys i use to work with a guy with a 97 coupe and he had z06 tires on his coupe. I want to get a set of z06 tires for my 99 frc i guess i should have no prob fitting them on stock rims because the guy did it and always talked about how much better it handled. I really hate those uncraps to much wheelhop and it takes away from the handling of the car. My major concern then goes to whats the deal with the spare there is none im assuming so how do the z06 guys go about this???
The usual setup is to get a small 12v tire compressor from a place like Wal-Mart or Sears. You will also need a plug kit or a can of inflato goop. I don’t know how the sensors handle the goop if you have to use it.
While the ZO6 Goodyear’s are an improvement over the runflats, I think the general consensus is that there are better ones out there. Michelin Pilot Sport seems to get the most praise.
Use the inflato goop and kiss your sensors goodby.
I had a large stone go thru the tread of my dear departed Goodyears. No 12v compressor or plug kit could take care of that, and I was 20 miles from the nearest repair on a Sunday. I'm glad I had runflats. The Michelin zero pressure are great, no road hum, I can hear the exhaust, and I go thru my favorite corner far quicker with less noise and hassle, plus I now have two layers of steel between the next rock and me.
BTW, I checked with Goodyear and they now have the F1 Supercar tires that are stock for the Z06 in the original tire sizes for the regular C5s. They quoted me an outrageous price for them however.
