Remove shift plate on a4 differential help please!!!
Swapping a 2.73 differential from an a4 into my manual transmission car. I know I need to remove the shift plate on the differential from the auto car, can anyone explain the procedure to me? Or anyone have a guide? I searched the forum for an hour and couldn't find any procedure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
edit: I believe the appropriate name is "seal" plate, not shift plate
Here's the seal plate I transferred from my 2.73 diff to my 3.42 diff a few years ago. IIRC (I've slept since then ), I grabbed it by the edges and worked it out. It's held in essentially by the O-ring so it's not pressed in with a lot of force. You should replace the large, outer O-ring and shaft seal while it's out.
