Default trans fluid?

I purchased a c5 with an rpm level 5 4l65e trans. Planning on changing the fluid when it comes out of storage. What brand seems to be working for you guys? Thanks.

They show 3 different options for auto trans fluid, one of them being synthetic. Is this the best choice?

What did RPM recommend? They told me to use the cheap brand such as Auto Zone or Advance Auto but I don't have a level 5.

When I had my 00 vert 6 speed I ran Royal Purple Sincromax and never had any issues. I noticed a marked improvement in the feel of shifts almost right away. My 04 Z06 that I just bought has 19,000 miles on it and this weekend I will be changing the trans fluid to the Royal Purple Sincromax and the diff fluid to the Royal Purple Max Gear 75 90.

I actually tried calling them yesterday and left a VM. No response yet, but I'll be a squeaky wheel. Like I said, I bought the car with trans installed...

You could run either of the signature series or the torque drive. I run the blue signature series in my 99 and my 03 Bravada (brand new trans). Never had any issues and shifts are improved over stock fluid. Its been in the Vette since Oct 2010 with over 35K miles on it and 8 of those being supercharged. Added an additional cooler and remote filter. I use amsoil in everything that they make a product for.

Thanks for the input. Called again and they said just run any dex3 and it will be just fine. I guess it's all about how much you want to spend and how much you believe in fluid hype. Not saying it's not legit.

Synthetics are more resistant to breakdown at high temperature. Amsoil, Dex 6 and Redline D4 ATF are three that I am aware of.

For the street, Dex 3 as RPM indicates should be fine.

Before adding more transmission fluid cooling I saw as high as 270 degrees on track.

Close to 100,000 miles, ten track days, perhaps 700 miles at WOT or hard on the brakes so far.

I happen to have been using Redline D4 ATF, a full synthetic and in view of the track time, change fluid and filter about every two years.

Keep in mind that a fluid and filter change removes about half of the fluid in the transmission, the other half is in the torque converter and works and does not drain out. After two changes, about 25% of the original fluid is still in the transmission.

Great info, as I was just going to ask how often you guys change fluid with a little track time in between being a weekend street car.

You could use Amsoil but you'll get the same service from any good brand fluid. You can then use the money you saved for other endeavors.
