Using a Clone Tech 2
I would like to see this thread continued with the experience of others in the hope those of us with Tech 2 clones can teach each other.
The real use I intended for this Tech 2 is to perform an automated bleed on my ABS system of my 2000 FRC track car.
I have the service manual and am following the automated bleed procedure, but it does not describe every keystroke operation.
My problem is that I am not seeing the automated bleed function on the Tech 2 when I expect to see it.
I'm hoping other Forum members that have a clone Tech 2 can review the steps I performed and tell me if I did something wrong, or I have a software issue with the Tech 2
UPDATE: I connected the Tech 2 to my 2003 Silverado Z71 and was able to see the automated bleed function, so there might be a bug in the software for the Corvettes.
1. Connected the Tech2 to my 2000 FRC, ignition key in the off position
2. Powered on the Tech 2. Tech 2 passes power on self-test
3. Turn ignition to on position, did not start engine
4. Opened Tech 2 main menu The screen shows:
• F0 Diagnostics
• F1 Service Programming System
• F2 View Captured Data
• F3 GM Performance Parts Diagnostic
• F4 Tool Options
5. Selected F0, Diagnostics
6. Selected Model year (2000)
7. Selected Passenger Car
8. Selected F2 Chassis
9. Selected Product Line (Y) “establishing communication” seen on screen
10. Screen displayed: CAUTION: “ABS Braking is not available when ABS/TCS lamps are illuminated” (Note: I had no Codes related to the ABS or TCS and no light on the dash)
11. Pressed the “continue” key selection. The right-most softkey was highlighted.
12. Screen Reads: “Chassis”
• F0 ABS/TCS/Magnasteer
• F1 RTD
13. Selected F0, ABS/TCS/Magnasteer
14. Screen Reads:
• F0 DTC
• F1 Data Display
• F2 Special Functions
• F3 Snapshot
• F4 ID information
15. Selected F2 Special Functions
16. Screen Reads: (Note, I think I should have a function key at this step for Automated Bleed, but it is not there)
• F0 Automated Test
• F1 Solenoid Test
• F2 TCS Test
• F4 TCS Switch Information
• F5 Steering Position Sensor Test
17. Selected F0 Automated Test
18. Screen showed ready for test and a softkey highlighted for CONTINUE.
19. Pressed CONTINUE softkey
20. ABS pump activated for a second or two, and the car beeped twice, so I know the Tech 2 it talking to the car.

I noticed the price went up from $293 to $345.
I'm thinking the software on the PCMCIA card is not correct. I can see the automated bleed for my truck, but not for the C5. As soon as I get a buddy to bring his C5 over, I'll check another model year. In the meantime, I send a message to the supplier. I have sent other messages and have gotten responses, but when you send a long note to them I think it takes time for them to get a good translation.

Just trying to make sure we don't mix apples and oranges.
Got my Tech 2 and tried to do the bleed with his exact above guidance on my 2001 this morning. It worked perfectly.
As a result we think his card is bad. He is going to see if his new card will work if he gets one. If not, I will be cloning a card for him and we will go from there.
We are both sure it is a card issue and not an issue with the actual Tech 2.
We'll let you know.
Mr. Sam
