Default knockoff tech2

has anyone ever used or purchased a Chinese tech2 from ebay or anywhere else?im wondering if they work for normal diagnostics and are they bidirectional.ive heard that you cant program an ecm with them, but I wont be doing that anyway.i am a former gm master tech, but currently am a Nissan master tech and don't have acces to a tech2 anymore,i have 2 corvettes,a Cadillac and a monte carlo ss,so I need a tech2 from time to time.thanks I appreciate any input anyone has

Have you tried the ones that Harbor Freight sells? I'd be wary of one on eBay. At least with Harbor Freight you can always return it if it doesn't work.

A tech 2 isn't the same as a hand held OBDII reader.

The harbor freight ones are really good though, just my .02 cents.

From what I read, this one is excellent. I've been thinking of buying one myself. Anyone get one from this seller?

Yep, my brother has one from here, used it many times, had it for about three years. Works great, no problems. And the seller is great with questions and getting back to you on emails.

Do you know if it has all the functions available such as tuning out certain sensors and error codes, bleeding the abs, etc?

I know we've used it to target which sensors are problems instead of it just giving you the general code. For all intents and purposes it is a tech 2, so if a tech 2 can do it this can. I'm not an expert user on a tech 2 so I can't comment on your question specifically. Did use it to turn on the TPMS on our Z's though.

Thanks for your comments. I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on this one. I'm just trying to decide between buying a Tech2 or a new set of LED Halo rear tail lights. Decisions, decisions! Oh hell, I might just get both.

I got a real GM Tech 2 many years ago for free, long story, lucky me. Anyway it is only programmed up to 1999, yet I have never had a problem with any procedures on my '03 Z06 or my 2000 S-10. I have two new GM cars, a 2012 and a 2014, and they don't use Tech 2's anymore.

yeah, to cover 2012 and 2014, recommend you buy GM MDI, it can program after 2009 year GM vehicles.

well I finally got the tech2,i had to file a dispute through paypal though.they sent me several emails on the status but one asked for my phone number for shipping, only problem was it was a no reply email and there was now way of sending the number through their website,so I started a dispute.within hours I got a normal email from them and sent the phone number.the tech2 arrived 2 days later.it looks and feels exactly like the gm one,and I have been using these things since they changed from the tech1 to the tech2,i have years of experience with it and it works exactly like any others ive used at gm dealers over the years.im happy with it,even though the shipping was a lot,its still a great deal.462.00 for a brand new tech2 with a candi module all the cables and adapters and case is great

so far I only connected to my intimidator ss and everything was there, havent used it on the corvettes yet,but I would imagine it should be able to set up a bcm.i would like to change one of my c5s that is canadien to US to disable the auto headlights because they don't always open when they should and when they do work right they come on too early
