Default gets hot

Got a chance to go on a couple hour trip yesterday and i only noticed one weird/possibly bad thing with my brand new used car. All of the buttons were hot to the touch. engine temp was fine, trans and oil temps both OK but the radio/climate/HUD/options/door buttons were all warm or hot when touching them. What might be causing this?

When a bulb lights, it's "burning" a filament inside a vacuum. Touch a house lamp bulb after it's been on a while, you'll get the idea. The buttons are all lit by bulbs. Don't go looking for things wrong, something will show up.

So your saying its just because my headlights were on the entire time so the backlight bulb was glowing and getting warm?

Replace the incandescent bulbs with LEDs and no more heat!

Each button has it's own bulb, it's not just a single backlight. There are about 16 bulbs in the buttons of the HVAC unit itself, and they are all soldered in. If you go to the trouble to change out to LED's just because the buttons get warm when the headlights are on, you're in for a lot of work. The printed circuits are double sided and very difficult to clear of solder to replace the bulbs, even with a "solder sucker".

Use the DIMMER **** and turn the lamp intensity down some.

Its normal for them to get very warm.

Thanks for the info. I will try that next time I go on a trip with the lights on.
