After being without a Corvette for a few years, picked up a nice 1997 black C5 for $7500 (divorce). Car runs very strong, and everything works well except for the A/C.
It is not the common light issue, they always work fine. The unit does not usually come on at all (except for lights) when started and then will suddenly come on after driving for a while, usually after 15 minutes or so. Once on, it stays on and works fine. I believe it may be a bad ground connection. Can someone tell me which specific ground is for the AC so I don't have to tear the car apart trying to find it.
When you say it does not "come on", what do you mean? I need to know if you are just talking about the center display or the fact that you can't make it provide heat or A/C, control the blower etc.
When I say doesn't come on, I mean the whole unit does not turn on (except background lights), nothing in the center display, no AC functions work. Then maybe 15 minutes after driving, everything comes on suddenly and works fine. Trying to narrow down where the climate control ground is.
After further research, I believe 4XLR8N is correct. I didn't realize that the switch had so many contacts to make everything work. Will be changing it out next week. Thanks for the advice.

I sent you an email in response to your pm - hope it helps. I am very confident the ignition switch is your issue. Please let us know what you find.
