i bought a c5 a week ago, put a new battery in the fob, reprogrammed it and it worked for a couple days. stopped working battery is still good. reprogrammed again and it still isnt working, programming said it synced. thanks
i read through that thread earlier but it looks like all the solder is good
You can't tell by looking. It doesn't work now, what could you hurt by resoldering? A new fob for your model is around $90 if you can find one. You can use a 2000 fob, but it won't have passive mode. You cannot use a 2001-04 fob unless you upgrade the rfa and tpms also.

yea ill probably end up doing that, i do need another remote and key though since the car only came with one. it started working again after i reprogrammed it 2 more times.
Huge discovery: throwing away the passive fob and replacing it with the non-passive cheaper fob = no more excessive battery drain!!
For years I had to replace the batteries every couple of years, and car would go limp if my daily commute was less than 10 minutes. Couldn't quite see an aporoach to the problem as I don't believe in grounding issues causing parasitic drain, and never successfully put anything in parallel to measure current with a meter (they just not built for initial spike on connection).
After my fob finally was so worn out and too weak for goid use, I plonked down $100 to get the overpriced fob replacement. Within a week, battery fully recovered and car roars like a beast when starting. Unbelievable.
So: the car has been about 50 feet from where I live. No way the fob works at this distance. So it must be the mini-earthquakes in California that we get 24-7 but you can't feel that wake the fob up, AND it somehow manages to at least wake up the vette, even though it's not strong enough to lock-unlock at that distance.
It baffles me but it 100% was the cause of the battery drain.
