Default Oil Temp Low

Was running the car today. It has not been driven lately with the Winter weather here in Ohio. All seemed normal. No codes or anything. It is 34 degrees in the garage. So moving through the DIC, the Oil Temp says Low.
Oil temp low. Not Oil Pressure nor Oil Level. Oil Pressure is around 40. Level is fine. Warmed car up until Tstat opened. Water temp was 200.
Car is 1999 Coupe 6 speed with 77,xxx miles.
Oil temp sensor is in filter housing if I recall.
Any ideas? How could I check the sensor?

If there was no numeric oil temp value displayed, the chances are that either the wire connector has broken/fallen off or the sensor is bad. They aren't terribly expensive; Rockauto has them for $16 and change. AC Delco p/n 2134333 Also try Amazon or your local parts store.

Your car is fine. When the temp is really low the oil temp just says "oil temp low" instead of a numeric reading. For some reason the computer never resets itself until the car has been off for around an hour. Confused me the first time too.

Same thing happened to me earlier this year on my way to work. When I left, I made sure to check the DIC to see if the temp was reading, and it was back to normal.
