I recently changed my Differential Fluid and Power Steering fluid on my 98 Auto.

Heres what I used:

AC Delco 12345867 Power Steering fluid (listed in owners manual/ordered through Amazon)
For the Differential I went with Amsoil 75W-90 Severe Gear(ordered through Amsoil website) You will need 2 quarts for Diff. and it also contains the slip lock additive already mixed in it. 300 miles since the fluid change and I'm happy.

As for the Coolant I'm pretty sure you have to use the Dex-Cool brand. I'm not sure about the Trans fluid part number you posted. I'd suggest check your owners manual for the recommended fluids.

Extract from a recent GM note:

"If fluid part number 88861800 U.S. (88861801 Canada) is unavailable when servicing a manual transmission or transfer case, Dexron III can be used in it's place. DO NOT use Dexron VI in place of the manual transmission fluid in any manual transmissions or transfer cases as a failure may result".

----------

Says it better than I can - you ordered the right stuff for your transmission. You can, as GM says above, use a Dex III fluid (which was the factory fill when the car was built), but NOT Dex VI.

The confusion for all was caused by GM abandoning the Dex III standard for it's auto transmissions back in 2006, and moving to Dex VI.

And yes, these cars do run auto transmission fluid in their manual transmissions.

Personally, I am running Valvoline Dex/Merc which is labelled for pre-2007 GM vehicles. Got it from my local Advance Auto.

OK I did some more searching .

so here is what I found out

first off my owners manual calls for

1050017 1qt size
1052884 1pint size

if you use
10953471 946ml this is correct for corvette but designed for cold climates.

these are us part numbers.

for me in Canada we use
89021183 1L size
89021184 500ml size
