Has anyone ever just put LTs/Xpipe on and left it with the factory (Non Ti) exhaust? I put my headers on last night and with my cars current custom magnaflow setup (previous owner) its just way to loud and WAY to much drone. So I have been on the lookout for a Ti system but then just started thinking that I have never seen anyone just keep the factory C5 system so im curious if anyone has and how that would sound. I'm not looking for loud just a good sound.
Also can you do the by pass mod to the stock exhaust since your just welding in a extra pipe?
The Z06 Ti cat back system is very popular for those with standard exhaust wanting a nicer sound with better performance without going to an aftermarket setup. You can find a good used Ti system for $400 - $500 depending on mileage and condition. My 02 Z06 sounds good to me and I hesitate to change the exhaust, but I might for a Corsa Sport if I decide to spend that much money for something I don't need.
I had long tubes and X-pipe with bypassed stock mufflers and it sounded pretty great. I switched to Magnaflows and I kind of miss the bypassed stockers.
Yeah I'll try it out just need to find one or maybe 2 since they are pretty cheap and do the bypass mod to one of them.
i have LTs, no cats, and an x pipe with the base mufflers with the bypass mod. i love it, when you just cruise around its very mild but the idle is noticeable outside of the car but not obnoxious. when you go WOT it really screams pretty loud. when i decelerate in gear it gurgles and i really like that and every once in a while it'll pop.
I just installed LT's and non catted X pipe on my Z. I was on the fence about modding the TI's.....didn't want it screamin' loud all the time.
I ended up doing the mod with a home made butterfly valve in the by-pass pipe.
activated with a 1/2" wrench when needed. It adds a little extra bark.
Going to the dyno this week...can't wait to see how it sounds / performs.
