Default Key fobs not working

I put the LMC5 steering column lock fix in my 99 C 5 6 speed. When I got done, the key fobs would no longer lock or unlock the doors or the back lid. Yes, I put new 2450 batteries in them. The automatic lock feature still works when I go over 15 mph and the locks on the doors still work as well as the windows. Im wondering if I disturbed something behind the passenger side kick panel when I did the LMC5.. The fobs worked BEFORE doing the fix.. Thks for any help here in advance.. Bruce

Try this:

Press and HOLD the LOCK & UNLOCK buttons down at the same time. Hold them until the horn BEEPS. That procedure SYNCs the FOBs

If that doesn't work, you will need to RE- Program all your FOBS.

You do that using the IPC DIC.

Here is the procedure for RE- PROGRAMING the FOBS. NOTE!! You have to re-program ALL of your FOBS at the same time!

1. Turn ignition on.
2. Turn radio off.

3. Press Driver Information Center(DIC) RESET button to clear all messages.

4. Press OPTIONS button on DIC until display is blank.

5. Press and hold RESET button for 3 seconds.

6. Press OPTIONS button until FOB TRAINING is displayed.

7. Press RESET button to begin programming sequence.

8. Simultaneously press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on first remote for 13 seconds. Message will appear when remote is programmed. Repeat this step for additional remotes. Again,, You have to program ALL your FOBs during this session or the ones that you didn't program will not work.

9. Turn ignition off and remove keys from ignition.

10. Test remotes.

You will find the Tire Pressure Monitor training sequence in this same screen.

Hope this helps

Bill

Bill, thank you so much for your instructions! I haven't had a chc to do it yet but it makes sense to me after having the battery disconnected several times since I had problems with the LMC5 installation. I will use your ins tomorrow! THANKS AGAIN! Bruce

Default I had the same problem

After I did the LMC5 mod I had FOB problems. I reset the connectors on the BCM, several times, and the problem was fixed. At first neither door would lock/unlock. After first reset the drivers side worked. Reset again and everything was good.

Do you mean you pulled the three connectors out of the bcm that you have to remove to do the LMC5 fix? Ive had them out several times since I had some issues getting the
lmc5 in properly.. Bruce

Default Fob training not a success

Hi Bill. I did the entire training following your ins. It never got beyond "hold down lock and unlock". It never put a message on the DIC that it had finished. Eventually after lots more than 13 sec, I exited the training. Fobs still wont work.. I am dreading that I disturbed a wire some where in the BCM that controls this function. Any suggestions? Bruce

Disconnect the battery, pull the BCM connectors and carefully inspect the FEMALE connectors and look for pushed/damaged FEMALE PINS and in the BCM connectors for bent MALE pins. Put her all back together and try again.

Make SURE all the wires in the female connectors are locked in place.
