Did your car grind going into reverse regularly? My car did before i redid my trans.When i took it apart for 3/4 syncro key failure, not only did i find that it had been apart before due to 1/2 syncro key failure, but that one of the plastic selector guides was devoured and causing angular enaugement of the reverse syncro which was all worn to ****. I ended up replacing the reverse gear and flipping the selector to get a clean set of dog teeth to engauge with a new syncro. Along with numerous other parts being replaced.

If you had that "normal" t56 reverse grind, its possible there was enough slop built up in your 125k t56 that it allowed a syncro load then heat then failure of reverse all together? Just a thought.

Nope...this one never had that issue. Always shifted into reverse fine. I think it was just a bad bearing, or maybe a lube issue. IDK.
