Default LS2 Clutch?

I asked the local shop to order me up an LS7 clutch kit, new slave cylinder/throwout bearing, and a remote bleeder since either my clutch or throwout bearing is completely gone. 133k miles on the stock clutch, it's time.

I was looking forward to the LS7 clutch as it could hold a bit more power if I decide to add a mild cam and the extra weight would be nice for my daily driving in Seattle traffic.

However, I got a call today saying that the lady who orders the parts did some research and thinks I should go with the LS2 clutch. I searched here and can't find anything on the LS2 in a C5 - lots of recommendations for the LS7, but none on the LS2.

Anyone have a few cents they can throw in to the conversation?

Thanks!

I believe the LS2 clutch for the vette fits differently than the LS1 clutch because the flywheels are different. Here's more info: http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=277688

Not 100% sure could be wrong

WTF?? "The lady that orders the parts"?

Sounds to me like the "lady that orders the parts" was able to buy the LS2 setup cheaper and therefore more profit for the shop. When does "the lady that orders the parts" call the shots in the shop to the techs, etc that are actually doing the installation?

Of the two clutches, the LS7 is the better choice. I'd tell them to either install what I asked for, or find another shop that will. Good grief!

Supposed to be a very highly rated local shop, Corvettes of Auburn in Auburn, WA.

They did my A/C compressor for me but it seized up on me not long after which they took care of under warranty.

I'm not very happy right now though - I called Monday morning asking for a quote and was told I'd get one that day. Called yesterday and got the LS2 info and was told I'd get that quote. Now it's midday on the 3rd day, I still haven't gotten a call back. The problem is, I need the car back by 3/27 and they're the only performance shop around here that isn't booked until late April.

Ugh.

Talked with the owner. Got a good price quote on the right (LS7) clutch.

All is good.

Good choice, I did the same with my '01 after about 40K (too many track days), the clutch started coming apart. The LS7 took just a tad more pressure to push but after one or two trips to work it wasn't noticeable. No clutch issues after that

Evidently the pilot bearing grenaded and chewed up the input shaft.

$600 part, $200 labor.

Anyone have an input shaft for cheap??

I need to build my shop already so I can stop paying other people for things.

I wanted to buy this:

http://www.tickperformance.com/treme...corvette-base/

and send it to them. Or have them buy it.

But if I do, they say they won't warranty any part of the clutch swap. Tried to talk them into 'How about if something fails, and you pull it apart and can show me that the input shaft was involved with the failure, then I'd pay?' but they wouldn't budge. They don't buy the shaft, I don't get any warranty.

So I'm paying $400 for a warranty.

Hate people sometimes.
