Mobil 1 and friction modifier

Here is all Mobil has to say about it:
Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant provides the following advantages and benefits:
Outperforms all conventional gear lubricants
Maximum protection of differentials
Exceeds requirements of all automobile and truck rear axles
Minimizes wear and spalling in racing and high-performance cars
Subzero flow down to -50°F (-46°C)
Maximum resistance to breakdown from heat and extended high speed
Excellent limited-slip performance
Extended service life
Improved vehicle fuel economy
Indy 500-certified performance
If you put it in and you have noise on sharp turns you can always add a small amount of modifier from GM... Or you could just add RedLine because they very plainly state that the modifier has been added. I went with Redline.
It's just easier to drop in a bottle when adding the diff fluid than filling it, driving around listening for noises, adding a little additive when necessary, etc.
Have a good one, :seeya

With the later model C5s 99+, GM went with synthetic in the rear diff (this from C5-TECH).
So they are using/requiring synthetic with the friction modifier.
I'm just wondering what synthetic gear oil they are using... Mobil1?

Eggsellent question...C5Tech told me the additive was in it from the factory but I am curious if GM runs Mobil1 gear lube or not...anyone??? :chevy :flag :seeya
Have a good one,
Mike
I used Mobil1 gear lube and added the friction modifier. Works fine.

j/k :D
Seriously though - thanks for the replies everyone!
As i already have some Mobil 1 laying around, i may try it with the FM and see how it goes. If i dont like it i'll prolly go RedLine.

I've been running this for quite a while on the street and track (high temps, no coolers) and the diff continues to operate well with no chatter.
