Wondering how to fix this? It's only on one plug. I'm running LG long tubes and bought plug wires also from LG.. Can the boot be trimmed and moved in tighter so no contact is made?
Ya, the headers have been on for three years, just happened a couple weeks ago when we had a big weather change and everything was sweating. You can wipe it off with your fingers easy, I guess it has to do with the percentages in the alloy. I've has a few other stainless things rust over the years,, guns and boat parts..
I had the same problem with my xs power headers, one wire was rubbing the headers, i tried the coolsox, worked great for a few weeks but eventually it burnt a hole in it and cooked my wire. Went with msd wires with the bendable boots and problem solved.

I tried bending the boots and twisting the coil end to different angles but it still touches. See pic, what do I do?
No matter how I adjust it, the wire always touches that silver pipe
I used the foil tape you get at Home Depot for heating ducts. Wrapped a couple layers around the silicon boot and no more melting. Make sure to keep the tape away from the wire as it is conductive.
I did the same thing as pounder. Even with the heat sock the plug wire/boot would smoke after driving... added a few layers of wrap around the header and AIR fitting and all is good now.
