Default CD changer :(

I am the proud new owner of a 2003 c5. Everything on this car works awesome. Except for the 12 disc CD changer. I have went thru all the book suggestions for any problem. But still no luck. It comes up on screen CD number and track. But then goes to the time then err. I have cleaned the CD's. They play in the regular CD player. Just not in the changer. Any suggestions. Thank you.

The CD's go in the opposite of the usual way. They must go in label side down.

For troubleshooting try a professional CD, not homemade. Some types won't play in the changer. You may also need to clean the optics, or you may actually have a bad changer.

All the CD's are brand new CD's. I'm gonna try a CD cleaner and see what that does.

I hope it works for you, but I don't think it will. The laser that needs to be cleaned doesn't touch the cd, so it won't clean anything. I think you'll have to take it apart to clean it.

O well. This CD changer has Never been used since it was put in the car from the factory. I am the first one to use it. I jus wonder from sitting all those years if it is jus froze up.This car is museum quality. Mint condition. It has been stored in climate controlled environment.

I don't recall why, or exactly what... but ours did the same thing till I filled the cartridge with CD's.. and for some reason it plays some of them and some it won't.. just sayin.

I have had some aggravation with the 12-disc player in my 2001 vert. Once it kept cycling over and over like it was trying to load. I thought it was empty. Got to the point where I couldn't get it to spit out the magazine.
Finally I removed the unit from the trunk and found that a CD was stuck in there. Had to partially disassemble the thing to get the disc out. And it was a little fidgety to get it out at that.

There is a small reset button on the top of the changer that you need a paperclip to depress. That might help.

The other option if you don't want to jack with CD's is get one of those plug in's that you can attach an Ipod or phone by cable to your changer. You can still control it through your stock head in the dash. I love mine and not limited to just the music a the CD's.

which plug-in do you have? I bought one from Freecom wireless (PdAuX3W-CL2). It took me 2+ years to get around to installing it. Worked for about 2 months and now I get "err" on the car's sound system display.
Not sure what the problem is. But it was nice when it worked!!

I got the one from Double D. See Link. Works fine for over a year and the sound is very good.
