I'm hopefully going to finish up my header install this weekend. Do you all use Loctite on the header flange to head bolts? If so which color? What about on the O2 sensors?
Should use anti-seize on both, being carefull not to get any on the O2 sensor working end (threads only). That said, I ordered a set of ARP locking header studs for my current LG Pro install to eliminate the danger of screwing up the header bolt threads in the head. Pricey but well worth th peace-of-mind and positive locking feature.
I didn't use any and have never had problems with them coming loose. Are you talking about at the collector? If so it wouldn't hurt I guess. Definitely don't do it at the head. Again, same for O2 sensors, haven't used it and haven't had problems with them loosening up
I haven't and I have had mine out maybe 6 times so far..Which is a bad thing but that's another story but mine held fine. I can thread them by hand until almost to the very end. I use anti seize everytime. I put loads of it on
When I installed Hedman Headers on my '87 I used a light coat of anti-seize on the bolt threads and tightened them up starting with the bolts in the centers and going out to the ends.
I ran the car for a few days and went back and checked the bolts for tightness. Only one had loosened slightly so I just tightened it up again. It's been nearly a year now with the headers and all the bolts are tight.
The bolts I used were the ones that came with the headers. I was thinking that I would have to go with something like the ARP bolts or Stage 8 bolts, but so far so good.....
