I have a 2001 C-5 convertible. One in about 20 times I go to start the car and the dash is completely dead and the motor wont fire, if it does it seems to be running in limp mode. Everything else that's electrical is fine. It's not throwing any codes. Is anyone else having this problem?
Battery is only 1 month old. The motor cranks just fine and everything electrical works except the heads up display and the gauge pod. When it does start the heads up still isn't working. Its very intermittent. I just went through the chassis grounds, cleaned them.
I have just about any tool needed to do any thing to my cars and know how to use them.(until now!!!!) I did run the onboard diagnostics and came up with numerous codes the most frequent one was U 1016 which is a loss of communication with PCM and a lot of low voltage codes. Its strange how my $900.00 diagnostic tool doesn't read any of these codes. On board says I have 6.7 volts at PCM and volt meter says I have11.9 at battery at the same time and 11.8 where the battery cable connects with the starter. Am I correct in assuming that I loosing power between the distribution box or ign. switch and the PCM ?
