Default Trans Quick Connect from He!!

I have an '04 C5 with the automatic transmission, and my radiator sprung a leak so i have to replace it.
i disconnected all the hosees and unscrewed the connector on the tranny line to the radiator.
the connector on the end of the tube is the quick connect fitting,
i couldn't figure out how to replease it so i just unscrewed the whole fitting.
Now I can't find any way to get that fitting off, there's no external anything to get it to unhook it.

Here's the new radiator with the quick connect fitting already installed and waiting for the tube.

i can see inside the new fitting and it looks like the release is inside the fitting,
I've tried a bunch of the quick release tools out there and none are skinny enough to fit between the tube and fitting to release it.

any ideas? or does someone know exactly what the tool is that i need?
i even tried some old thin feeler gauges but couldn't get it to bend right around the tube.
I'm even thinking about cutting a beer can to make a tool thin enough.

how about removing the line to work on it?
i'm tempted to get a cutting wheel and cut it off.

Just remove that fitting from the radiator and screw your existing tube and fitting in. There should be a little gasket or o-ring on the end of the tube.
Check out some photos here.

Amazon.com: OTC 6611 Transmission Line Disconnect - 6 Piece: Automotive Amazon.com: OTC 6611 Transmission Line Disconnect - 6 Piece: Automotive

This is the correct tool. I would recommend using the fitting on the new radiator. That style of fitting has a tendency to fail and blow out at higher mileages. Seems to be more prevalent on the Cadillacs than the Corvettes, but I've seen it on the Vettes too.

so far i've tried that and many other quick release kits out there, and all have been too thick to fit in the space.
i even tried to use a feeler gauge but couldn't get it to form around the tube.

All of these tools are too thick where it goes around the tube

Try some 0.010" thick plastic shim stock.

Cut a piece that is about an inch - two inches wide and is able to wrap all the way around the tube and slip it in between the tube and the fitting as you twist the fitting.

Once the shim is between the retainer ring and the ridge on the line, you should be able to slip the fitting off.

None of those tools are the OTC 6611. The parent company of OTC also owns Kent Moore and Kent Moore provides many of the special tools for GM. Many of the OTC tools are the same as the Kent Moore tools and OTC 6611 is the exact same (comes out of the same factory) tool as Kent Moore J-44827. J-44827 is the factory recommended tool from GM to disconnect that style connector and I have used it many times in my shop. Don't take this the wrong way as I don't mean this in a rude way. But, if the OTC 6611 isn't working you are doing it wrong. These fittings can be tough. First clean it out as well as possible with brake cleaner or some other aerosol. Then add some lubricant. I usually use PB Blaster as it is handy. Then with the OTC 6611 in place try to push the fitting Further onto the line. This will release enough tension from the locking mechanism to slide the tool into position. Then while still applying pressure as though pushing the fitting further on the line push the tool into position, the skinny end is supposed to enter the female fitting. Then hold pressure on the tool so that it does not slip out of position and separate the fitting from the line. Hope that helps.

I found a set of the OTC 6611 on Amazon, should be here tomorrow.

I sure hope these work, or it's on with the old fitting.

I finally got it.
the OTC-6611 is the correct tool to get the transmossion line off the radiator,
i got a pack of 6 from amazon, they worked so good, i had the top fitting off before i realized it.
So i took pictures of removing the bottom fitting.
These actually clipped together on the tube, missing the ridge, and then slide right in.
Thanks for the help.
