Default Plug wire recommendations

A friend of mine is looking for a set of high quality/performance plug wires to put on his '98 C5. What do you guys recommend?

I went with the MSD 8.5mm wires. Fit perfect & look nice as well. Very beefy wires & much better than stock IMHO.

These seem to be the two top contenders each time this question is asked. My only question would be whether either of these is better on radio/electrical interference.

Any one on one comparisons in this area?

I'm currently running these due to clearance conerns with my FLP headers. They are excellent. I previously ran the Magnecor 8.5mm and those were excellent as well. Both also look very nice - the Taylor's are black while the Magnecors are red.

Okay, here's the deal, and why you'll probably get responses for many brands...

Repeated published tests of many different vendors' wires have consistently failed to find a significant performance difference among them. Why you ask? Simple, there are not that many different companies that actually manufacture the wires. Most vendors buy from these few manufacturers (sometimes one vendor even buys from a couple to assure supply and best price) in different colors, end them, box, etc. Prices are all over the ballpark for virtually identically performing wires.

Just make sure whatever you get does not touch the headers. Good luck! :yesnod: Btw, you can bet some will swear by "their" brand. Ask for mean dyno results from the same car, same day with different wires (assuming they are not just replacing a worn-out set of any kin), each tested three times in random order. This HAS been done.

I'm very happy with my MSD 8.5mm wires. They look/perform great, are VERY well constructed and don't cost a boatload of bananas. (Typically sell for less then $80 + shipping) Check the vendor's mall on the forum.

After doing some reading, I decided that there isn't a big enough (if any) difference in performance in the better wires on the market so I decided to go the the Taylor Spiro wires for $42. With overnight shipping, they were less expensive than many of the other brands. Thanks for all the pointers and suggestions.
