Default Ls1 stroker worth it?

Sorry if this has been covered before, I'm new to the ls world. Picked up my 00 c5 about a year ago. It's stock other than a billy boat exhaust. I'm going to to do afr heads, fast intake, tooley valve train, lg headers/exhaust, and at least a new set of Pistons. I have a wet nitrous kit from my mustang leftover and plan on adding it. I don't want to do a supercharger at this time. Would stroking the ls1 (383ci) be worth it financially or should i just save the money towards a new block? I've kicked around the idea of the lsx454 or another company big stroker. It's not out of the question. Going bigger is definitely more money, and my ultimate long term goal for the car is having a bigger cubic inch motor. Also if i keep the stock crank should I do rods or are the stock rods good for a full bolt on h/c/i car with around a 100 tuneup in it. I would like to keep the engine in it for a while and enjoy it while saving for a full tilt build.

Thanks for any input
Matt
