Default Frost plug/cylinder head question

This issue is new to me so go easy gang - 02 with approx 90k - former owner had frost plugs replaced about year and less than 500 miles before I purchased this particular car (and I've put less than 1K on it as well - just no time). A couple months into driving I noticed small pool of coolant (and the smell once car heated up) - no heating/cooling issues whatsoever and coolant level is generally unchanged. Took vehicle into dealership and they recommended new FP's as well as replacing cylinder heads to tune of $3k++ to 'absolutely 100% fix the issue'...
I just want some other opinions/thoughts on this before thinking of dropping that kind of $$

1- First of all,, you spelled it wrong Its spelled STEALERSHIP.

2. PLEASE mail me your old heads. Ill pay SHIPPING!

Seriously,,, If a freeze plug is leaking,,, why can it be repaired?

You have to ask your self,, WHY,,, was the freeze plug replaced? Did the engine FREEZE at sometime in its past? Was the plug just damaged?

Clean the engine/heads and inspect ALL the freeze plugs. Find the leaker. Fix it correctly. Use a mirror and a good strong light. The correct way is to pressurize the coolant system with a pump and do the inspection. Do the inspection and see where the leak is.

Can you do your own work? If not, find a competent C5/C6 specialty Shop and see what they will charge you for the repair. You don't need no stinking STEALERSHIP!

90K miles isn't much for a C5?? Where do you live???

I live in North Dakota (so obviously the car is stored 7 months out of the year) - something with the whole diagnosis never really sat right with me - esp after discussing with service writer. I agree that 90k isn't much for this motor - it's spotless and runs like a top except for this issue.
