So a couple weeks ago my keys got stolen out of my corvette so what do I really need todo to get everything working together besides taking it to the dealership and wasting a boat load of money? Please Help
The dealership just needs your VIN and proof of ownership... they can make you one and then you can get on line and get a blank and get a second made for much less....you can also get fobs for your 01 on line... ebay

Yea but what I was told is that I would have to tow the car down there and they'd have to make to new keys and possably change some module! I mean I've worked at my fair share of dealerships and know how they make there millions off of pointless **** like programming a extra key when u have to already.... It take 2 sec and they charge u still full price for the programming I mean I can do the work my self I just didn't know what other ppl have done to provent getting screwed over at the dealership

They don't have to program the key... all they need is the VIN and proof of ownership...
C5 corvette key fob part numbers
01-04 - Number 1 Fob - 25695954
01-04 - Number 2 Fob – 25695955
I'm not trying to program a fob that's the least of my worries I just want to get a key so I can drive it..... When I got the car it on had 1 key and I programmed a fob my self

That's only true on a GTO. The C5 isn't anywhere near that complicated. They should be able to just make a key from your VIN. They may have to order it if it isn't in stock.
Nice 8vette7... didn't know you could do that!
It would be a little haunting, knowing someone has a set of keys to your car...
although it looks like they already had a GOLDEN opportunity to steal it...
I guess it goes without saying... don't leave your... well, you know the rest.

The only reason I left the keys n the cars is bc I share a shed with 2 other buddy's and if one of r cars r n the way they can move it! But as of right now so far I'm the only one that has a key to the shed since we just moved n to it

So... ya'll decide on a nice secret location to store an extra key so, if someone needs to move a vehicle they can...

Yes true👍🏻
If the dealer has the correct resistance key blank they can cut the key per your VIN and when you go to start the car it should start with no problem provided the battery is good.....
If when you turn the key to the ON position the SECURITY light on the dash remains illuminated (it should come on and then go out) they gave you a key that does NOT match the resistance for your car.
How does the dealer know what key with what resistance to use since there are quite a few vats key settings? Is the key's outline and vats key info only tied to one VIN?

Idk but I just ordered 2 keys this morning and they said it would be a extra $50 bucks since they had to check the Internet for the key code so keep ur fingers cross I'll find out if it works tomorrow ...........
