I got a check engine light on my 2002 Corvette today. Pulled the codes and got PO171 Fuel trim system lean bank 1 and PO174 Fuel trim system lean bank 2.
Has anyone else experienced this? My Corvette has been sitting for about 2 months, I added Stabil to the fuel before he was parked. Will Stabil mess with the fuel monitoring system?
When mine threw the P0174 code, it was a cracked PCV hose. Actually, it was the 90-degree fitting on the passenger side, just behind the throttle body.
My code was also caused by the 90 elbow of the PCV hose. I missed it the first time I inspected it, and then pulled it off again and straightened it out a bit which revealed rot at the short radius of the bend.
I had these codes and it was a short piece of rubber tube between the pcv valve and the throttle body. An easy fix once found. Fixing it also reduced some of the engine oil leaks as the pcv system reduces the crankcase pressure a bit.
I almost overlooked it as well. Couldn't find the replacement piece at any of the local parts stores near me so I used a piece of fuel hose with the same inside diameter and cut it to fit. So far so good.
So stoked to have this forum to turn to for issues like this, had I taken it to my local Corvette shop there's no telling what they would have found as the problem $$$$$$$
Thank you to all who have shared your knowledge, this is not the first time I've turned to this forum and been able to fix the problem myself. I'm approaching 170,000 miles on my 00 Coupe.
