Default Speed bleeder

I'm going to replace the clutch in my 99 C5 with an Ls7 kit. Clutch disc, pressure plate, new flywheel , slave cylinder and master plus pilot bearing.

My question is should I also do a remote speed bleeder ? Is it important or essential to have. I don't know which way to go so opinions are welcome from all.

Thanks, Tom

A remote or speed bleeder makes life a lot easier.

I have the ecs one, its works great. Don't replace a clutch without getting some sort of remote bleeder.

I agree with all the rest. While not necessary it really helps to properly bleed the clutch. You wouldn't imagine how disgusting that fluid gets!

I installed a Tick performance bleeder and it has worked like a charm.

If you are installing it yourself, for the love of god do not reassemble the entire car before bleeding the clutch. Something will leak (in my case the speed bleeder fitting) and you will have to do everything, and I do mean everything, short of removing the clutch itself again. I used red loctite on the fitting on the second try and bled it before reinstalling the rear cradle and have had no issues since.

Dammit, that is NOT something I wanted to see today... My car is 100% back together except for the FAST intake that I'm reinstalling right now

Hopefully when I bleed it, there won't be a problem... how did you see your leak? Was there an instant pool? I'd prefer not to have a fire or something because I don't see it

With mine, I couldn't get the clutch to bleed. I got under it and saw the puddle, I don't think I had the tunnel plate back in by then.

As long as you were diligent, I would not worry too bad. It was likely haste on my part with my car.

I sure hope so

I didn't use Loctite, though, and I couldn't torque it to a spec because the line is in the way... hopefully it's tight enough

I didn't want to overtighten and break it; hopefully I wasn't too cautious

Hey, how did you do your first fill of the new system? I changed to a Tick MC at the same time and everything is all hooked up... it doesn't say how to do the first fill with the remote bleeder installed, it only says not to do it the way the instructions say

If you don't feel like hijacking this guy's thread, I have a thread on the topic here in the C5 Tech section
