I bought a used Caravaggio spoiler and didn't look at it real close but I noticed the paint was not real flat like it had runs in clear coat from bad paint job,I also noticed some fiber glass cloth print showing through. This did not bother me as it needed to be painted the color of my car so I was more concerned with the fit which was perfect. I took it to body shop to have them prep and paint figuring they could get spoiler looking nice and smooth before painting, they noticed the surface was actually starting to bubble up some,, they cut into it and found fiber glass separating from foam underneath,,, seems it is foam sandwiched between fiberglass. So is this a common problem or did I get a bad spoiler? They are going to fix it since I own it now it will just take longer and cost more
Any thoughts, I have seen very few in person and did not study finish just fit.
Probably cheaper to buy a new one than try to fix whatever the issue is with the one you have (that will most likely return).
It may return, but shop feels they can make it look good for me, I kinda have favors saved up with them so it won't cost me any cash, I have seen only a few of these in person and most did not have nice paint (smooth and flat). Has anybody else noticed this? Anybody have close up pics of one of these painted well? The guy I bought this from had one on his car and I noticed paint was not perfect so I figured it was a matter of getting a good body shop to prep and paint,,,, my shop is good, we'll see how they do.
I would contact Caravaggio and get their opinion on this because it doesn't sound right. Maybe they have suggestions on the best way to fix this problem. I have one on my car for several years now and the finish is perfect.
Thought I would update this old thread. Body shop did an amazing job fixing this spoiler, it is perfect , no signs of fiber glass in paint at all, it is smoother than the body of car!

Looking at the pics, your body shop did a very good job on the spoiler.
Thanks, I've seen a few on cars at shows, not many as smooth as this!
I know this shop and the guys and knew they would get it right. I would not put it on the car if it was not at least as good as the rest of the paint!
I've seen too many bad paint jobs on aftermarket hoods to do that to my car people may not like it but they can't say it does not fit or match
