I installed my Kirban short shifter last night and really like the new throw compared to stock. I think that I might be missing a part on the shifter though. Isn't there supposed to be a rubber boot that attaches to the top of the shifter? I think it must act as a heat shield because my leather boot is pretty hot. Mine didn't come with one, but a friend of mine who has one told me it came with his. If it is part of the shifter, does anyone know where I can get that part (since I bought my shifter used)?
I also installed the CAG bypass at the same time... boy, I am one happy camper!!!
Hey, while I'm here, what shifter **** do you guys recommend with the Kirban? I don't care much for the billet units.
there is a silencer plate that installs and covers the top of the shifter. you should have received it with your shifter. it helps with heat and noise. we sell them if you need it. thanks,
The Kirban does not come with a boot like the Ripper. The piece Nate is speaking of looks like a soda / beer can top with cutouts for the bolts at each "corner" of the top portion of the shifter body, and is to help with noise reduction. It has sticky stuff that allows you to attach it to the top of the shifter. It is a fairly recent addition / upgrade that Kirban now includes with their shifters.
The "boot" that you may be describing comes with the B&M Ripper that slides on top of the shifter body top like a condom, and then there is the large somewhat flat rubber piece that covers the top of the shifter well area, and that piece comes from the factory.
Sorry I don't have any pics for you, maybe this has helped some.
