Enabling Twilight Sentinel on a Z06 - ambient light sensor? code B2647
Some months ago I read on the Forum that the twilight sentinel feature can be enabled by simply invoking the feature with a Tech-II (Z06's do not come with the feature). I have a very cooperative dealer who turned it on for me. However, it turns out that if I turn twilight sentinel on, the headlights go on all of the time.
I tracked this down to a code, B2647. This code is thrown if the ambient light sensor is either grounded or it has an open circuit. This allows makes the headlights go on all of the time if the twilight sentinel option is on.
So I hunt for the ambinet light sensor (left side of the defroster cover right up under the windshiled). It turns out that I do not have an ambient light sensor nor even a connecting wire to attach a sensor to.
So should I have an ambient light sensor? Is it used for anything else?
Can the twilight sentinel feature be invoked on a Z06? (it isn't important, just fun to have something else to play with. I may never even use it).

Absolutely correct, the sensor is necessary for the twilight sensor feature to work. :)
Perhaps my question was ambiguous. I'm trying to find out if the sensor normally comes on the Z06 from the factory. I've looked at the service manual and there is no mention of the ambient light sensor not being present on the Z06. There are also references to the DRL's relying on the sensor. Thus, I'd expect to see it on my dash. But it's not there.

Sorry, I misunderstood your question. Being a coupe owner I'm afraid I'm not qualified to answer questions specific to the Z06. I'm sure one of the "Z" guys will come up with the answer, though.

Elk,
There was another thread on this topic a couple of months ago and the person claimed it worked on his car. Here's the link http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=323745
I turned mine on via a tech 2 and have the same problem as you. They come on all the time. What I can't unerstand is why GTP's z06, as well as his freinds z06s, have the sensor and ours don't. :cry

Thanks for pointing me to the earlier thread. This is the on that I originally saw.
Two other Z06's were out on a run with me today. Both are 2002's. Neither have the ambient light sensor. Maybe they stopped putting them in later in production.
Anyway, it's clear it won't work without some added parts.
I think I can handle turning the lights on and off myself instead. :)
