Default Seat Lumbar Problems Stock.

I am having issues with the lumbar motor running constantly but not filling the seats up at all.(To the extent of killing the battery) I disconnected the appropriate fuse. It has the 18 gazzillion direction electric seats.

The DIC has 1 error which is
Seat Front Down Switch Shorted to GND

I do not know what this means besides knowing what a short is.

What can I do to get a working lumbar control in my seats.

Thanks guys.

I cannot help you with the hot motor. Someone else can comment.

But assuming the motor is pumping air, then the lumbar bladder may be leaking. There is a plastic fitting attached to the bladder that the hose from the motor connects to. When I redid my seat covers, these fittings were dry, brittle and cracked. If you get the motor to function right, then you may have to pull the seat cover off to replace the bladder. There are instruction on the forum and on the LS1 forum for this work.

Good luck....

What is the Code and is it H or C? You can't turn the engine OFF and read codes or they will almost all show as H.

With regard to the Lumbar the FSM is very poor on operation. You apparently have a switch issue since the pump motor should not be powered without closing contacts on the switch. You may have other issues if nothing inflates like a bad pump.

Look at this Thread for Lumbar related issues.

We repaired my seats with blood pressure bladders from medical supply house $5.00 each, they work great. I have done another set the same way, GM bladders are like gold plated I think $135.00 each

Can you provide a little more info such as size or source and part number you used?

I would also like the specific bladders that were used. Plan to do mine soon.

Thanks

Default Lumbar

This is what we used, bought the on line, Google search the bladders<br/>http://www.schoolkidshealthcare.com/category/blood-pressure-cuff-replacement-parts<br/><br/>
I used contact cement on the bladder and seat frame, then attached them. You can use child size for the lumbar if you like, we used adult on everything. The hoses are the same size as GM so they plug right up.
Sounds confusing but once you get the seat apart it's really simple. I wish I had taken photos but I didn't.<br/>Hope this helps

Sorry guys for not responding but I put off doing the job because it intimidated me a little bit. However now I have no choice because the seat switches are shorting so badly that randomly I will be driving and the seat will try to jam me into the steering wheel while going 70 down the freeway. I need to fix that first and then look into the bladders, then look into the seat rails lol.
