Default Ac not blowing hard

Hi I have a 2000 corvette. Ac blows cold both sides but air does not blow very hard. When I turn ac system up sounds like it's blowing hard just not out the vents. Also doesn't seem to switch between modes either. Not giving me any codes. When I check air seems to be blowing out of foot and face vents and defroster all very little. Seems alot of people have this issue but haven't found a forum with good trouble shooting instructions. Any help is appreciated

Sounds like you have a vacuum hose that's either come loose some place or is broke. Mine did that when I purchased it and found out the battery had leaked and deteriorated the hose under the tray. I removed the left front inner fender cover and the battery tray and was able to repair the hose. Not sure if you ever had the dreaded battery leak or not but it does sound like you have the same problem. The hose connects to the back of the intake manifold.

There is a Mode Control Actuator that is operated by vacuum and has a linkage. It would not show up with a code if it were not working. I have the FSM info on access and replacement if you need it. It is located on the drivers side.

AC w as blowing too cold, it was set at 62 degrees, so I turned it to about 64-66 and now it will not get cold at all. It happened instantly.

I dated a girl like that once... Seriously have you done any work on the intake manifold ? It sounds like the vacuum line on the back of the intake is disconnected or as stated earlier the battery leaked on the vacuum line.. My line came off when I reinstalled they the intake after an oil pressures switch change. It had the exact same symptoms.

The vacuum dampers have nothing to do with temperature. The vacuum dampers just control air flow thru various vents:

recirc/vent, floor vents/upper vents/defrost

The HEAT & COOLING are controlled by the ACTUATORS.

I concur except for clarification the FSM calls them all actuators. But like what Steve says anything operated by vacuum does not control temperature.

Lol... thanks Sam for clarifying, I was trying to differentiate so the OP would NOT confuse how the two operate even though the FSM calls them all actuators...

Just for my clarification, when you say it does not give you any codes does that mean that you actually tried to pull up codes using the Dash DIC buttons? Not that it just did not give you some kind of message on the display screen.

Thank you everyone for your help...so I pulled battery and found damaged vaccum line underneath...I repaired line and boom ac worked perfect drove for a day then all of a sudden..back to same issue...when I start car a/c actually works perfect for 5 min or so then as I drive it stops and goes back to original problem...could I have a vaccum leak somewhere else? Not sure why it would work for a little then just stop?

Had the same issue. There were actually two or three hose leaks behind the battery. I used a piece of slightly larger vacuum hose from a nauto parts store, cut the bad vacuum line where the leaks were and inserted each cut end into the slightly larger new vacuum line. Been good for 8 years now. I had some pics. If I can find them I'll post. If yo do a search on Zuti posts or vacuum lines, you may find it on here as I posted when it happened. Zuti

Either buy the manuals or hopefully someone will contact you on this.

My suggestion would be to start a new thread explaining your problem, what you are searching for and asking someone about the manual info.

Meanwhile, closing this 5 year old thread.

Also, moving this to C5 Tech where is really belongs.
