Have you ever ran a car with no cats? Cause I did on my Mustang and the smell wasn't even noticable. But the sound was!

Yes I have, both were LS1 Camaros. Highway driving was fine however in stop and go traffic it was very noticeable. It bothered the owner so much he decided to put high flow cats on. Have you thought of doing a cutout instead? If its sound you are looking for that might be the ticket. Good luck with whatever decision you go with.

I had my cats removed on my TA and had Mac headers installed at the same time. The tone was very loud but around 2000 rpms there was a drone and a raspy sound that sounded downright terrible. Dont know if C5's would sound like this because of having no cats but my TA sounded bad. If I had to do it again I would leave the cats on. If you are after sound just get them Borla Stingers.

I am mainly doing it for sound, and if it makes the car lighter and more hp, then that is a PLUS
Actually, that is why I did mine.. Sound...

Here is what you do and it won't cost much..

remove the intermediate pipe and GUT the main cats... It's a free mod minus the cost of the O2's. Plus the sound of a Hollow Cat is awesome! Plus the the excess heat under the tunnel is gone!

Drive it for a while..If you like it great. If not then go buy a pair of C&L high flow cats and have them installed. They are $89 each plus install.

Paying to have the cats removed is a waste. You will pay as much to remove them as you will to install a newer high flow set..

Do it in steps..
