Default Input shaft hosed???

Was suggested by another member to move this here. Was not completely sure which section to place this in. Thanks for the suggestion El original.

So the story begins with hearing a horrible sound coming from the clutch area. Did some looking on here and the consensus was that the pilot bearing is screwed.

So I ripped it all apart and found that this is true. There were two needles left in "one piece" but they were flying all over. I think that some or one got wedged between the input and the pilot bearing housing and created these scars shown in the pics.

It also looks like maybe it was heating up the input a little much and then the splines where the clutch goes might have twisted or flattened them.

What are you guys thoughts? Replace? If so where can I get one fairly inexpensive? 12 mm one.

Also the much debated bushing or bearing to replace the hosed pilot?
Thoughts?

My shaft is supposedly a solid setup with billet couplers. Was told the runout was .003. Don't have a dial indicator to verify it though.

Do you folks think that I am ok with still running the solid setup? Or should I run a rubber front?

Also my power currently is around 500 to the wheels with intentions on going to the 700 down the road so...

You guys help is appreciated.

Robert

With the damage to the spines and the pilot bearing surface I'd definitely look at replacing it. I can't help with the p/n but try Marc at Vettenuts and see if he could help with a good used part. Also, you can use a 10mm part if you're willing to drill and re-tap the threaded holes to the 12mm size.

Ok I will try him. I appreciate the suggestion. Also the hole sizes are the only difference? Hmm wonder if there are any good machine shops in my area. Just moved to the OKC area so kinda hosed even further. Since I dont know whats around.
