Re: A Free Blackwing, Vortex or Vararam intake! (Power Shifter)
I agree with your comments Power Shifter, thank you. we are not biased and we are honest. the test will legit and there will be witnesses. we appreciate all the helpful hints, but this is our test and we know what we are doing, so no worries. i personally like the looks of the VR and im sure it will do well in the test. but i think it will fall short in VRs claims...

Hey Nate, if you ever want to test superchargers or head and cam packages I am in. :D
What do you think we do with Nate's car? No wonder he's gets pissed when we don't let him take his car home for the night... or a month  :jester. Nothing like getting to drive the bossman's vette more than he does   :jester :jester

I assume that you guys are just going to bolt on the intakes without any sort of tuning? Are you guys going to allow mileage for fuel trim relearn after installing each intake? Fuel trim values will affect WOT A/F ratio and rear wheel HP.
If time for relearn mileage is not allowed then this test is not a real indication of what will happen when you live and drive with the intake out in the real world. ;)

I did test the VaraRam on my 02, and so far it runs better than ANY other"close to stock" Z06 down New England Dragway, on the same day. Anyone can talk crap, but there is a vett vs. viper shootout on Oct 13 if you have a Z06 with intake, and want to see the differance to the VaraRam come on up, all are welcome. Ric

Ric, just out of curiousity how did your 02 Z06 run before the VaraRam install? Are you now running more MPH?
Re: A Free Blackwing, Vortex or Vararam intake! (Sam Lin)
RG, the dyno will be on Xtreme's in-house dyno, but I expect there to be witnesses for the runs. With same day comparo dyno pulls also, I don't see an easy way to tamper with readings.
I am not driving the car at this point as I have very little drag racing experience, I've done maybe 20 runs total. I have been surprisingly consistent over those runs and would drive if necessary, but I think the comparison would be more valid with an experienced drag racer who can get the best time out of each intake's runs.
Miles, I'm not sure if an accelerometer will be any easier to source here - I do have a G-Tech Pro that I could use for 0-60 times, maybe while running the 1/4 mile. Unfortunately it's not the new model with the graphing and outputs.
Nate, I'm very rarely busy these next 2 weeks, so if it looks like it'll take extra days, I'm ok with that - I would prefer though that I be with the car at all times. My time is free, I can accomodate you.

This will be interesting. :yesnod:
I agree. I figured we have seen results by now based on the plan that was mentioned during our GP on the V/R's. But, we will wait to see what they come up with.:) I know I'm not the only one here that will be reading the post.:)
