kumar,
A 19 year old student with an '02 Z06:confused: Not doubting you, would like to know what you do, i need in on it:D BTW.....I'm in Mesquite, i would like to check it out!! Email me at hkss1521@aol.com. :seeya
Give Nate a call in the morning... unless Nate has received emails prior to your post then you are first in line. Car stock or nearly stock?
Bill
Car is a 2000 A4 coupe, 3.15 rear, F45 suspension on Z51 swaybars with old runcraps with half tread, only performance? mod is a tranny cooler - had a Vortex, took it off, currently have a one of the Xtreme HighFlow filters on there, stock airbox is in my garage, with a fresh filter in it - I change intakes often. If a deal works out, I will be trading my old Vortex for a near-new Halltech Sidewinder, would be very interested in throwing that into the intake battle.
Thanks
Sam

Looking forward to your results. Hopefully you guys can get all the data gathered correctly at the track in a timely fashion.
How about the volant setup too? The one you guys really push. Although, I did see one guy dynoed with it and lose 11 hp and return it, I'd like to know how it does at the track.
Which VaraRam unit will you be using? The one with the Race Filter I'd hope.
If you can detail a plan of what testing you will do, we'll send one to your customer/test pilot(Sam if chosen) and you can pay us if he wants to keep that one or return it. Sound good?

Good car :) Your run craps are going to spin like crazy at the track if they are almost treadless, but you should see a gain in mph if everything is done right. Which track do you frequent out there?

RG,
I'd like to think we can correctly gather data  ... I suppose we'll have to rent track time to get it done in a timely fashion... but I'll let Nate take care of the logisitics. I will certainly help coordinate where and how I can.
I don't know how it is you can determine we push one product over another... we offer several different intake product lines and try to match them to customers uses and don't feel, as I'm sure you feel the same way, that one product line fits all customer needs/demands/budget. Yes, we sell Volant products... and I'm not familiar with the 11hp loss/product return you refer to. But if thats the case I hope we were able to satisfy the customer with a product that matched his/her expectations.
If you feel the Race filter is the media we should test with the Vararam then I'll pass that along to Nate... I'm sure he could agree to that.
Actually I'll just IM him this thread... you guys can determine how the Vararam will be obtained for testing purposes.
I am as eager as you to find out the results. Knowing that whatever the outcome is you and I both know intake products, with all their advantages/disadvantages, will continue to be debated... and all of us vendors/members will still be here to offer our opinion.

We can also look at what Forum Members are running with intakes. It's easier and real world.:) But, if Nate is set on this big test, then we will supply a V/R for use, then payment or return.
Customers do have their preferences. Some will like a non cutting unit, like the VaraRam or Blackwing. Others want the easiest to install with less gain, like the Blackwing. Some want a stock looking piece, getting cold air from outside, with a guarantee, like the VaraRam. Different strokes for different folks as with a lot of things.:)

ps...Volant issue was an 02 Z06 out of Washington State. 02 Z's are quirky with top breathers it seems.

To Exit 28- we have no problems in testing new products that we do not carry. we are not biased as we do not manufacture any of these intakes in question. if the VR does well as claimed, we will carry it! simple as that.
we are not interested in testing the volant. we are interested in testing the top sellers for this test. sorry, dont remember anyone returning a volant because of lost hp.
thank you, but we do not need a VR from you and neither does our test pilot. this is our test and we need no help from you, so please keep your distance. we do not manufacture any of these intakes, we are not biased. let the testing begin....

Let's hope you get it done.:)
We don't manufacture intakes either. Glad we have something in common on this.

ps. 02 Z06 out of Washington State. Check the Z Forum, it's there. 02 Z's are quirky without a/f help on a top breather. Just fyi...
Nate... Let me know if I can help, sounds like a deal to me! However, car is currently out of service for body repairs. 98 coupe, stock six speed.
Thx. Tony

If one doesn't believe the claims then there are alternatives such as the Blackwing and the Vortex units we offer. Both great products that we have sold tons of in the past two years and will continue to by matching what our customers want out of an intake with regards to performance, ease of install, and price. That's why we offer several brands and have added the V/R recently. We even sell a simple plug-on filter for the really budget minded.
On this Forum and others, we have seen manufacturers/vendors boast and claim and leave this Forum and come back, and leave, and all of that. That just takes years off the end of your life getting so worked up about it. Nothing is worth that. It's not worth getting worked up over, or losing sleep over. There will always be detractors to products by many different sources, both real and 'undercover' as regular members. There will also be 'member camps' that will not believe in anything but what they own. All of this is normal in society I guess. there will aslo be guys trying to proetct market share like they do in the 'real' world out there. It's just business in a hobby based market where guys, and gals, want to go faster and look better with a car that out of the box is faster and better looking than 99% of the cars out there, IMO.:)
We will watch and see what and if any tests are done by the folks that don't buy into claims or money back guarantees on the V/R. The only change will be, we won't keep on, keeping on, with the nonsense that others want to drag us into. I would rather channel that energy into something more positive, like our customers expectations and service needs, which if you'll search our name out on this Forum, will find is very, very good.:)
Take care,
Please keep us posted as we are very curious to see what happens and which kit comes out on top.
Shawn
