Default Car won't train key fobs

2000 convertible. Key fob stopped working vehicle functions. Has happened before. Follow fob training instuctions through DIC as before. Previously the fob would be recognized and work. Current situation is go to fob training, press lock and unlock as directed. Security light comes on. Fob does not train. Tried two different fobs. No joy.

Codes: RFA U1016 H
U1064 H
U1096 H

BCM: 2578 H
2583 H
2723 H

HVAC: B0367 H

AO LDCM: B2284 H

Fobs are not of same age. One original to car, other purchased new three years ago.

Cleared codes, haven't driven car since.

Any chance a battery disconnect might reset things?

Two thoughts. First, FOB battery. Second, had this issue with my Malibu, the rubber cover wears out and won't provide correct contact within the FOB. Bought a new aftermarket FOB rubber cover and it now works. If re-programming doesn't work, you might want to check these as well. Also, if one FOB works and the other doesn't, try swapping the rubber covers to see if the problem follows the cover.

Do both in one session or it'll forget the first one.

Replaced second fob battery, trained through DIC. Both fobs up and working. Life is,good. I think the car gained 35 horsepower.
