I have a 99 frc with fuel level error.Drive side pump and sender new still have fuel level on empty.I removed passenger side jet pump and cleaned fuel card.It was black looking from years of build up.reinstalled cleared codes and still gauge drop to empty.I had a new passenger side pump assembly for a 02 zo6.I removed fuel card from 02 and installed it on the 99 pump assemble[cause pump hangers are different].Car will not move from empty.Does anyone know if a 02 z06 fuel card work in a 99.Before I could clear codes and dash would read fuel level for a few minutes before falling to empty,After 02 card install it will not move at all.
The jet pump is designed to pump fuel to the drive side tank so the passenger side empties first. Once you stop the car for a while the two tank levels should equalize until you start driving again.
Pulling your dash DIC codes would help in diagnostics. If nothing then most likely the jet pump.
If you don't know how let us know. An auto store scanner is not going to show codes except for emissions.
I knew the later design had an anti siphon feature. The later FSMs show the siphon breaker (hole in the line) as item 11 and the FSM system description discusses the purpose.
The early FSMs do not show or describe such a siphon breaker and other design descriptions I have read do not indicate they have one. That would explain some of the funky fuel level readings we get on early models when the car has been sitting and how they rapidly change once the engine is running for a while.
I was always curious as to why they would not have one for the early years. That is, assuming they don't.
