Finally had to replace my 10+ yr old optima redtop, DIC was starting to reset on cold startup to oil pressure not where I left it when shut off. Pretty good run on a battery I'd say..

Had my red top fail within two years after purchasing... Got a new one no questions asked. Plus security of not having it leak, it has been a good addition to the vette.
I've owned a couple of 10+ year old normal lead acid batteries (actually still have one, sold the car with the other one) so that life really isn't anything special...

I had mine replaced after one year of ownership (about 3 months ago). I keep it on a tender and it's constantly reading a full charge at 12.4v. My second one was 12.9v when they tested it before the exchange and now it ranges from 12.5-12.7v (usually 12.5v). Neither has given me a lick of problems but it is kind of concerning as I've read 12.7v is where you want to be at for a good, fully charged battery. If I had to do it over again I'd go with something else.
If you want to keep the battery from dying on you buy a optima battery charger they go for a round $100 and is made for there batteries they will also work with all other batteries. I went through two red tops before this one and I'd say it's lasted this long because of the charger. When I buy another daily the red top is coming out the vette and into the daily and I am going to pick up a lithium for the c5
Ten years, not bad. Maybe I'll try one next time.
Best battery I ever had? Yuasa, Japanese battery in a 1981 Honda. 18 years and it still was strong when I sold the car.
While having a battery last 10 years is cool, keep in mind that as a battery ages and loses it's ability to hold a charge, the alternator has to make up for the difference. I'd rather change a battery than an alternator given how sensitive these cars are to voltage fluctuations.

Optima batteries are basically the Monster Cable of the battery world. And considering the number of horror stories I've heard about them, I just have to wonder why anyone buys them. I'll just keep buying my WalMart special Everstarts, which have yet to give me a single problem, for 1/4th the price.
(Optima Jim will be here shortly to explain how they're constructed of Unicorn tears and unobtanium)

AGM in my bike is 10+ years too, getting a little scared, probably should change it too.

One of the best reasons to use AGM batteries is the ECM just below the battery tray. Old lead acid batteries can cause BIG issues if they leak, do a search, you'll see many horror stories.

That's why all my toys are on maintainers when I'm not driving them. The DIC really gave away the need for a new one, it would reset to Oil Pressure on cold starts, I usually keep it on fuel level.

I replace all my batteries every 5 years, and I've yet to have one leak in that time period.
