Re: Why would a differential leak? (Untouchable00)
I know of your story. That stinks.
Well, just like any part on the planet or any product made, they all can't be 100% perfect and some will always have an isolated problem. You might just got unlucky.
Now maybe someone with experience will chime in and tell you to look for something that might allow you to fix it, like a seal or something?
I hope you get it worked out as I know it is stressful to have your car not working while in the middle of a mod. What is teh Tech saying to do?
Re: Why would a differential leak? (2001 Red Coupe Bandit)
I wish the tech would call me. I have only talked to the secretary and its been with them for 10 days. I don't want to bother anyone, but I am very conerned about my car. I don't want it sealed, I want all brand new parts.
How long do heads/cam and superchargers take?? I am only installing gears, TC, transgo and tranny cooler. I know the tech has some family issues, but I am just wondering how long this really should take.
Re: Why would a differential leak? (Untouchable00)
The reason that a differential leaks is that the process of taking the engine torque multiplied by the transmission ratio and multiplying again by the rear end ratio causes large forces to exist a) at the teeth of the gears, and on the bearings holding the gears on axis. It is the bearings that hold the gears on axis that transmit these large forces to the differential cases. The cases are not strong enough to put up with a) incresed engine performance, b) sticky tires, c) sticky launch areas on drag strips,...
Well, the car has yet to be driven since the install. It began leaking before it was even started. And that email was like my high school chemistry teacher talking to me. English, please
