Hello everyone, I am a newbie and have read the must reads for newbies on here and have read other posts with similar issues as me with ABS and Trac light, but I still have questions. Ok here it goes, when I start my car in the morning 50% of the time the lights come on. if I wait a couple minutes and shut the car off and turn it back on the lights go off. I took my car over to a grass field with the lights off and drove about 10-12 mph and hit the brake and the ABS works (I can feel it in the peddle and hear it) and the DIC reads ABS active. I did this a few times and everything worked well and the lights stay off the rest of the day no matter how many times I turn the car on and off and no matter how many miles I drive. This seems to be an issue only first thing in the morning with the first start of the day. BTW I don't drive on the grass field everyday I just did it a couple of times to see if the ABS works. Before I get my hands dirty by cleaning grounds and connections. This is my 30th car I have owned in my life about 25 of them never had ABS, I am use to no ABS, actually I kinda prefer no ABS, I like full control of my brakes, but the light and something not working properly drives me nuts. Also when the light was on I took it to the field and hit the brakes and ABS does not work when the light was on. My car is a 2000 with 90,000 drives and looks great. I looked up the code and it said something about ABS pump stall? I will double check the codes and post. Thank u everybody for your help! Sorry I'm not a better writer, but I think u understand what I'm saying?...
Thanks for the reply. Codes are 28-TCS C1243 H, 28-TCS C1281 H and I also have a 99-HVAC B0361 H C. 3 codes total. I looked up what u posted who knows it might just be a simple fix, I hope! I trying my best to search this forum for info, this is the first forum/group I ever belonged to. Confusing....., but cool.
No JL4 whoooo....... Looks like one less thing to go wrong. Haha... Well just got done exercising the ABS although the light hasn't come on today or yesterday probably due to me braking on the grass Thursday night and activating the ABS. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Getting too hot to investigate the other code now, will work on that one tomorrow morning before the heat kicks in. Thanks again 8VETTE7
Well it's been over a week now since I exercised my ABS. I also stopped by the field near my house a couple of times to apply my brakes on the grass to engage the ABS, just for the hell of it. I have had no lights come on at all. The only thing that happened was the ABS active when the ABS kick in. I do believe in what some people say, because most vette owners don't take there vettes out in crummy weather that the ABS never gets activated and the pump seizes up. I'm a big believer that a car that sits, is a car that's accumulating problems. I also followed the HVAC thread, but codes still came back??? Thanks again 8VETTE7
