Default HELP!! no start

Have a 99 C5. Bought used. Have had a few issues in past months but this one has got me down. Will not crank. Dash lights up when key on, and security light goes out. I have no interior lights when open the doors. Radio, a/c headlights all work. Turn the key and nothing. Have listened for the TDR to click but does not. The vats key is only a couple weeks old as I found slop in the key which came with car. Battery is new. Guage in car reads 12 and does not drop when trying to start. Radio and a/c loose power and come back when releasing key from start position. Car has had no starting issues and had only been parked for 30 minutes when failure occurred. Disconnected battery ground for approximately 10 minutes. Cannot check codes as my diagnostics do not work. Any ideas to help get this car home other than a wrecker. Forgot to mention that power windows and hatch release also not working. Can supply power to purple wire from TDR and starter will turn over but no start.

The first thing I would do is make sure that the battery side terminals are CLEAN and tight. My factory service manual says 11 foot pounds which sounds like a lot on lead threads. I can't get a torque wrench in there either, but make them TIGHT.

Next, a new battery can be bad. Load test it.

Thanks for the reply. Tested battery along with a few other things last night. Battery good. Narrowed problem to a ground issue but haven't solved problem. Seems that I've lost ground to part of my relays in footwell and appears that it is same ground for the TDR as well. Anyone happens to know where that particular ground is located without pulling the harness out piece by piece?

The TDR is grounded by the BCM. Verify the relay is good. You didn't say if it was an auto or manual so the problem may be upstream of it.

We got disconnected during the call... Here is the ignition switch post we discussed...

- C5 ignition Switch repair - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...ch-repair.html

See if disconnecting shorting bar at the STAR connector to the LEFT of the BCM that has FOUR WIRES resolves any of your problems.

Let us know how you make out.

Update...no interior lights, DRLs, window control, no start with key. I can jump at TDR and will run fine. Still no interior lights, traction control, or drls but gain window control back.

Yes. Did that last night. While unplugging switch, interior lights and window power came back. Thought would have to be the switch so took it apart, cleaned contacts and ohmed good. Put back in and everything worked except cranking. Talked with Bill and came up with possible no signal from park/neutral safety. Bypassed that wire with a power wire and ran fine. Drove today. Shut off and cranked fine twice. When I went to leave work, same problem as beginning. So I jumped TDR and drove home to work on for the weekend. Now as I was standing next to car, I shut the door and interior lights came on, then timed out. Opened the door and no interior lights. Is there a ground point at door post or latch area that could be playing games with me?? Gonna drive me to drinking. Lol. But dash lights not going out. WTF??? And now dash lights went out but now backlighting for window and door lock switches staying on.

I may be less confident than you in your ignition electrical switch refurbish.
