With the heat this time of year it is the most likely suspect.
If it is not the battery after you have it tested (most parts stores do that free) then the starter/solenoid is the next suspect. Use an old broom handle placed on the solenoid (NOT the electrical connection) and while a helper holds the key in the start position use a heavy hammer to wrap on the end on the broom handle. No love taps. Solid wrap. If it starts then the starter/solenoid is the problem.
In trying to get to starter, I hit the battery cables by mistake and the relays started clicking. I tightend cables to battery and my 2000 vette started right up.
