97 owners that experienced column lock system problems - HELP!
Attention: Owners of 1997 Corvettes (past and present) - I am requesting your help to obtain a list of people that have filed a complaint with GM and/or had the column lock system fixed at an authorized dealership. I plan to send this list to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) along with some of the GM directors. GM customer service expressed that this needs to be a documented complaint. The customer representative also expressed that if the recall for the 1998 - 2000 extends into the 1997 models, then GM would reimburse the money that was spent to fix this problem. This means free money to you if the recall is extended. Please send me the VIN number, date of service, complaint number, and what part fixed the problem, either via e-mail (greenhaw@intcon.net) or by posting it on this thread. Your help on this issue is greatly appreciated. I feel it is sad that a person has to go to such extreme lengths to get GM to fix something they know is already a problem and a potential safety hazard. I will e-mail you the letter, at your request, once I feel everyone has responded to this issue. :mad
