I've been battling this one for some time. Everytime I turn my airconditioning unit off it will come back on, sometimes it stays off for awhile (varies between to a couple of minutes all the way to a couple days) then come back on. I know it is not a memory problem or a FOB problem because I turn off the unit while I am driving and it comes back on and I know how to correctly program my memory functions. If I continue to turn off the airconditioning after it comes back on I get a loss of communication with the HVAC unit as well as most of the other modules, most notably the TCS and IPC. Already tried swapping relays but same results :mad please help!
No specific codes except loss of communication with the modules
If you have Climate Control, you have to turn it all off, not just the A/C button. Otherwise, it will turn the AC back on to get to your desired temperature. To cut CC back on, use the Auto button.
Check the mode. If the defoster is set on (little defroster icon in the display window) the air conditioner willl not shut off. Press the mode button until the defroster icon is not displayed, then try turning off the AC.
Thanks for all the help so far but I should have been a little bit more specific, I turn off the entire unit not just the AC control and it still comes back on :mad . I'm going to check all the ground wires as Tony suggested
My car is going on week 3 in the shop because my Dual Climate Control module (which experienced the same problem) keeps burning out. The dealership has replaced the resistor, alternator, BCM and PCM all with no sucess. They have a case number w/ TAMs (GM Hotline).
Thanks for the info :) I've had some work done on mine before by several dealers, they claim to have fixed it but it still comes back so I'm not going to waste any more $ with them. One replaced my PCM, one replaced my fly by wire connection and still another claims they cleaned up wiring harnesses.
"Manually put it on top vents only with no defrost and then try turning it off..." Scissors can you explain the reasoning behind this one? I'll give it a try though
