I have a strange problem with on my 97 C5. It runs out of gas when the gauge shows 1/2 tank, but it only takes 7 or 8 gallons to get it back to Full on the gauge. Not sure whats going on here. Any ideas? Thanks!
Thanks for the info. After a little research it looks like it's not a major deal to replace the pump, but where do I buy one? Came up empty on a Internet search.
Thanks wrmiles. I was afraid of that. Dealer only I assume? Which means it cost at least twice what it's worth. O-well, guess I'll have to live on the left tank only for awhile.................

Rock Auto, Amazon, etc. There are a number of sources.
Anyone happen to have a part #? The Rock Auto web site seems to only show pumps for the left tank. Also what is the part called? I've been searching the Internet for siphon jet pump and coming up empty.
Thanks for all the help everyone! I just ordered one from Rock Auto for $123.00 including priority shipping. Now I need to read up on how to install it!

Judging from that price, which you say includes "priority shipping", I think it's possible you ordered the wrong thing.
I took the assembly out of my tank and used a pencil eraser (after it dried) to clean the traces on the fuel level sender.
I took the ends off the fuel jet and inspected it with a magnifying glass and discovered a small spec of something occluding most of the jet. Used a single stand of small copper wire (it is a freaking tiny hole) to clean the jet out then washed the jet with carb cleaner. Been working like a champ for 2 years now.
The only annoying part is Chevy did not use common bolts to hold the sender. They use this weird oblong looking head on the bolts. I took a small crescent wrench and did them 1 turn at a time the hard way.
I then went to Ace Hardware and got normal bolts and put those in when I put it all back together. There are alignment marks on the sender, gasket and tank so you don't need to worry about putting it back in the orientation.
Last bit of advice, if you can't get high detergent fuel, put 1 bottle of Techron concentrate in every 3rd gas fill. Has worked great for me.
