Default Which gas tank empties first?

My passenger side gas sending unit is acting up. I want to use some Techtron to try to clean it. I have read all the pertinent posts and it appears that the right tank is used first and then the left tank. This sounds odd to me as I would think that this would unbalance the weight of the car. I would think that it would use both tanks for even weight distribution.

Also, it sounds like the left tank is filled first. Is this correct?

Based on what I have read it sounds like I should put the Techtron in when the tank is half full as the whole bottle would end up in the passenger tank. Is this correct?

Right tank empties first. It isn't really all that critical WHEN you pour it in, since the left tank constantly pumps part of it's contents over to the right tank to actuate the siphon-jet pump anyway. If you really want to get **** about it, I would say run the "tank" (a misnomer) down to almost empty, THEN pour the product in before filling up.

Btw, it's "Techron".

Thanks for the pic - I'd never seen it.
FYI I have had very good luck cleaning injectors and the fuel level sensor with a full can of Seafoam dumped in the last 1/4 tank - then running it 'dry' as possible. YMMV

The tanks from the earlier years are similar except that there are access panels which allow the removal/replacement of the electric pump or siphon pump without dropping the tanks. On the late 03 and 04 the tanks need to be dropped to service either pump.
One of the things they should have left alone... they changed? I guess it was too simple to have access panels huh?

The new fuel tank system was designed to accommodate future LEV 2 emission requirements. This was accomplished by
moving as many components and fuel lines as possible inside the fuel tanks, to minimize hydrocarbon emissions. A
flexible metal crossover hose assembly replaces the former rubber one, because the permeable rubber allowed a small
amount of hydrocarbon to pass through.
The redesign also includes more isolation and noise control for the electric fuel pump, which now has greater flow
capacity to supply higher output engines.

Thank you for the information - everyday I learn something new.

Much appreciated.

It would seem that elimination of the access panels was one of the costs to achieve the minimum emission level requirements.
ONE of these days someone is going to ask a question you DON'T know the answer to.... you would be my "life line" if I were going to play Who Wants to be a C5 Corvette owner...
I appreciate all the info dude... you are a great resource... and a humble at that.

Where are the access panels located on the early years?
