Hey everyone, I'm having a very odd issue with my HUD, heads up display, unit. I have a 2004 C5 that I absolutely love, but can no longer drive it at night.

My issue: my HUD unit always has every single light on and is not working at all. When I turn on the car, the whole display lights up and is at the highest brightness. When I move the dimmer switch up and down, nothing changes at all. The brightness never goes down and it makes it so that I cannot drive at night because it's so bright I'm blinded.







What have I done: I was recently in Bowling Green and stopped at the factory and spoke with a technician, who stated that he's never heard of this issue but gave me the following troubleshooting ideas

1. Pull fuse 19 (instrument panel) wait 30 seconds and let the system "reset itself"---DIDNT FIX IT

2. Disconnect battery, wait 30 seconds and let the unit reset itself---DIDNT FIX IT

ALSO: When I brought it to the dealership they had no idea either and just wants to replace it, I'd rather fix it and save the money instead of jumping and buying a new unit if it's not needed!

I've searched every where I could think of (forums, blogs etc) and no luck!

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue? I love my car but can't be blinded when I drive!!

If your IPC is working correctly then I say the HUD is bad.

 

In the meantime, if you wanna drive it at night, you could just cover the portal.
