I'm trying to decide on a set of forged pistons for my 408 motor (6.0L iron block with 4.00" forged stroker crank) and need your help on this. My plan with this motor is to get it built specifically for a huge shot of gas now (200 to 250shot    ) AND also for boost application (turbo, not blower) down the road. Is that possible?
My question is which type of forged pistons should I get? I don't want to do the pistons twice. If I go with the customed forged nitrous pistons now, will it work OK when it's time to slap on the turbo? How about the other way around? Will the customed forged turbo pistons work well with nitrous?
Hi Tuan,
You are talking two different animals here. The turbo needs low compression pistons where as NOS thrives on high compression. You would be smart to make your decision now and stick with it... Personally, I would build it with a broad naturally aspirated power curve for drivability and then add the NOS as needed. It's going to be a torque monster with that long stroke anyway...
When done correctly, a turbo installation is very complex and costly. You MUST also use an intercooler (to avoid high inlet temperatures and detonation) if you intend to get to any serious power with it.

Talk to Nick or Wade at ARE, I purchased a set of Ross Forged Racing Pistons from them, they have some different setups based on your application. They have good blower setups and NoS setups.
